Nurse Practitioners

Natasha Wasum (f)

Natasha Wasum - Nurse Practitioner 

Natasha qualified as an RGN in 1992 and subsequently worked in acute surgery and ITU before leaving to work in Singapore and China in a variety of clinical and managerial roles for 9 years. On her return to the UK she joined Weybridge Walk in Centre in the role of Nurse Practitioner delivering unscheduled urgent care to the local community.

She joined Fairlands in 2014 setting up the Nurse Practitioner Service, delivering urgent 'on the day' care along side the Duty GP. The role has since expanded to include home visits and telephone triage. Natasha is available to see a variety of urgent presentations including ordering of further investigations and arranging referrals, if necessary, to secondary care. She is also a Nurse Prescriber and is currently studying for her MSc in advanced practice.

Carol Corning (f)

Carol.JPGLEAD NURSE

Carol trained as a nurse in London and worked in general surgery and intensive care before undertaking further training as a midwife and then a few years later as a health visitor.

After a 10 year career break looking after small children she returned to nursing and Fairlands Medical Centre. She has now been working at Fairlands for 15 years. During that time she has undergone training in many specialities as well as gaining a huge amount of experience in all aspects of practice nursing. Her special interests are Asthma and COPD, Diabetes, warfarin monitoring and Contraception and Women's Health.

She  very much enjoys working at this surgery and feels very fortunate to be part of the wider Fairlands community.

Debbie Garland (f)

After qualifying from St Bartholomews Hospital in 1984 Debbie gained experience in A+E in several London teaching hospitals and abroad and then moved into practice Nursing in 2000.

Her main interests and role include Diabetes Care, Child Immunisations, Women's Health and Contraception.

She holds a monthly Cryotherapy Clinic and is responsible for the administration of the hormone blocking implants used in the treatment of Prostatic and some gynaecological conditions.

She has an active interest in Complimentry therapies

Jane Graham

JGPRACTICE NURSE

Jane joined the Nursing Team in 2014 having obtained her Adult Nursing degree in 2012 after studying in West London.

She undertakes treatment room procedures together with travel consultations & finds her role both challenging and immensley rewarding.

Rebecca Phoenix (f)

Rebecca Phoenix

Is a part time Practice Nurse here at Fairlands having joined our Nurse Team in December 2015. She trained at St Bartholomew's/City University and after qualifying in 1998 worked at St Bartholomew's Hospital within Women's Health before moving to Surrey and taking a post at Mount Alvernia where she worked for 12 years.

Her main interests are Women's Health, Tissue Viability, Wound Care and Leg Ulcer Management.

 

 

 

 

Jenny Wilson (f)

Jenny Wilson - Part Time Practice Nurse

Joined the Nursing Team in December 2017 and is part time at Fairlands

Our practice nursing staff care for our patients at both of the surgeries. We have a comprehensive practice nursing service to support the further development of nursing facilities and chronic disease management at the practice.

The nurses can be seen by appointment for all basic practice nursing services and offer the following special clinics and services: 

  • Asthma/COPD clinics 
  • Diabetic clinic
  • Hypertension clinics 
  • Well woman/man checks
  • Family planning services
  • Weight management services 
  • Smoking cessation advice
  • Blood pressure monitoring checks 

Healthcare Assistants

Ruth Young (f)

Ruth trained as a phlebotomist in 2003 at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and joined Fairlands in 2005. Since joining the team Ruth has extended her role to that of a healthcare assistant able to perform a range of health care procedures. She has achieved her NVQ2 and NVQ3 in Health Care.
